Hi! I am a wife, mom of two active and awesome little boys, elementary school counselor, and online health and fitness coach with Beachbody! I have been coaching for a little over a year now and developed this site to share with you recipes, fitness tips, and most of all tips for how to be a busy working mom and still find time to take care of your health and fitness.
Up until a year ago, I was a long distance runner. I would spend an hour or two on the weekends doing a long run and I truly loved that time. It was time to clear my head, listen to good music, maybe even time to meet up with a friend and run together while catching up on our lives. I had run a few half marathons and even completed a full. I mostly ate healthy food but had a ridiculous sweet tooth and the mounting stress from returning to work and trying to do it all, caused me to become an emotional eater. I put on more than 15 pounds and none of my clothes fit. Despite running 3-4 times per week and spending the long hours on the weekend running, I kept slowly gaining weight each year. I was frustrated and angry about it and didn’t know what to do. I also started hating running and was resentful of the time I was putting in, since it wasn’t helping me stay fit. I also hated feeling tired and sore from running, which sometimes kept me from playing in the yard with my kids or enjoying a family outing.
I saw a close friend of mine post about beachbody and how she had lost weight and was in the best shape of her life. I wasn’t convinced this was for me. After all, I knew how to eat healthy, I had a gym membership, and I could run a marathon. I knew what I was doing, right? So for two months, I got up at before work and went to the gym to try to really focus on getting back into shape. The progress was so slow! I ended up losing 2 pounds and still had a pile of shorts that I could not comfortably fit into. I finally called my friend and what happened next has led to a whole new way of life for me!
I bought a Piyo Challenge pack, which came with the Piyo DVDs and a bag of Shakeology and joined a challenge group. This is a group of people working together to stay accountable and reach their health and fitness goals. I loved it! The group was just what I needed to get motivated, stay on track, and most of all, get my emotional eating under control. It worked! In that first challenge group, I lost 9 pounds and 9 inches and was able to comfortably fit into all of my clothes again. The best part was having more energy to keep up with my kids and having so much more time! These workouts helped me get fit in just 30 minutes (or less) per day. No long runs needed, no sore muscles and nap time on the weekends after those long runs. I became a coach after becoming inspired by the changes I saw happening in these challenge groups. Now I lead the groups and help others make the same changes I made. It has become a way of life for me and for my family and I would love to share that with you too!
